Commonwealth Auto Insurance
Liability Coverage – Most states require every licensed driver to carry a certain limit of liability insurance. Liability coverage pays for any damage that the driver inflicts on other drivers in an accident. Bodily injury coverage is responsible for injury or death that the driver causes while property damage liability covers vehicle and property damage. This coverage also covers the cost of defense in case of a lawsuit relating to an auto accident.

Bodily Injury Liability – This type of liability insurance covers the cost of any injuries or the death of a person as a result of an accident a driver causes. A few examples of coverage would be medical bills, loss of income, hospital bills, and pain & suffering damages that are accessed. Bodily injury insurance only covers the victims of the accident. The insured’s own medical bills will not be covered. BI is the short-term used for this coverage in the auto insurance industry.

Property Damage Liability -Commonwealth Insurance Property damage liability insurance covers damage that the insured driver causes to another person’s property. This covers damage to other people’s cars, fences, shrubs, trees, and houses, etc. PD is the short-term used for this coverage in the auto insurance industry.

Uninsured and Under-Insured Motorist Coverage – pays for the insured’s injuries caused by an uninsured driver or, in some states, a hit-and-run driver. UM, and UIM is the short-term used for these coverage’s in the auto insurance industry.

Medical Payments Coverage – Commonwealth Insurance this coverage pays for the medical cost of the insured and family members, regardless of fault. This coverage also applies when a covered person is injured in an accident as a pedestrian. This coverage will only pay for medical bills; unlike UM where it would cover other losses such as lost wages, loss of consortium, pain, and suffering, etc

Uninsured Motorist Property Damage – pays for damage caused to the driver’s vehicle by an uninsured driver. It must be verified that the driver at fault for the accident was uninsured at the time of the loss. Hit and Run incidents do not apply.
Comprehensive Coverage – Comprehensive covers damage done to the insured’s vehicle. It only covers damage caused by incidents, not collisions.

Commonwealth Roadside Assistance Provides
Towing up to 25 miles to the nearest qualified service facility.
Battery service- provides jump start service when the battery dies.
Flat tire assistance- provides flat tire removal and replacement with spare tire if the vehicle carries one. If the spare tire is missing, the roadside will provide tow per towing benefits.
Emergency fluid delivery service- An emergency supply of up to 3 gallons of gasoline, oil, and water will be delivered. Member pays for fuel or other fluid.
Lock-out assistance- If the insured gets locked out of the car, the roadside will provide assistance to gain entry into the vehicle.
