West Virginia Nonresident Contractor Bond: 6% Deposit or Surety Bond

West Virginia Contractor Bond guide illustration

Under W. Va. Code § 11-15-8b, nonresident contractors must register with the Tax Commissioner before performing a contract in West Virginia and deposit 6% of the amount they will receive, or post an approved corporate surety bond instead. The bond guarantees payment of sales and use taxes on the work.

This guide covers who needs the bond, how it works, and cost. Blake Insurance Group is an independent agency, and a licensed agent can help with your bond and contractor insurance.
