Toyota Camry Car Insurance: Costs, Coverage, and Savings

Insurance company logos in this graphic are shown for identification only and do not mean Blake Insurance Group represents or is endorsed by each company.

Toyota Camry car insurance is usually reasonably priced for a midsize sedan, and the Camry's reliability and wide parts availability help keep repair costs predictable. Two things to know: Toyota made the Camry hybrid-only starting with the 2025 model year, and the Camry ranked eighth on the 2025 list of most stolen vehicles.

This guide covers how Camry versions compare, the theft risk, coverage for new drivers and commuters, and ways to save. Blake Insurance Group is an independent agency that can compare several insurance companies for many drivers.

What drives the cost of insuring a Toyota Camry

Insurers price a Toyota Camry from two sets of facts: the vehicle itself and the people who drive it. For the Camry, the vehicle-related factors that matter most are:

  • Powertrain. Hybrid Camrys have battery components that add value and repair cost; older V6 models have more power
  • Theft exposure. The Camry's place on the most-stolen list can raise comprehensive costs in some areas
  • Trim. XSE and XLE trims add equipment and larger wheels
  • Parts availability. The Camry's popularity keeps parts widely available, which helps repair times

Driver facts usually carry more weight than the vehicle: the ages and records of everyone in the household, past claims, the ZIP code where the Camry is parked, annual mileage, a credit-based insurance score where state law allows it, and the limits and deductibles you choose. For context, the National Association of Insurance Commissioners (NAIC) reported an average auto insurance expenditure of $1,281.60 nationwide in 2023. Individual premiums land far above and below that figure, so treat it as background rather than a benchmark for your own quote.

Because every insurer weighs these facts differently, two companies can quote the same Camry and the same driver hundreds of dollars apart. Our car insurance calculator shows how coverage choices move a premium, and our guide to car insurance quotes explains how to keep comparisons fair.

Camry versions and insurance

Toyota Camry versions and insurance considerations
VersionWhat it isInsurance considerations
Gas four-cylinder (2024 and earlier)Most common used CamryUsually the least expensive Camry to insure
V6 (earlier years)More powerful gas engine on some trimsMore power and value; can be rated higher
Hybrid (all 2025 and later)Gas engine with electric motors and batteryHigher value; battery components add repair cost
All-wheel driveAvailable on recent modelsSlightly higher value; better traction

Availability varies by model year. Insurers rate the exact VIN.

A 2025 or newer Camry is always a hybrid. If you are choosing between a late gas Camry and a new hybrid, quote both.

Theft risk and prevention

According to the National Insurance Crime Bureau's list of the most stolen vehicles of 2025, as reported by AAA Club Alliance in August 2026, the Toyota Camry ranked eighth nationally with 9,833 thefts, down 20% from the prior year. Hybrid Camrys have also been targeted for catalytic converter theft in some areas, because hybrid converters can contain more precious metals.

  • Comprehensive coverage pays for theft of the car and for stolen parts such as catalytic converters, subject to your deductible.
  • Park in a garage or well-lit area, and consider a catalytic converter shield.
  • Never leave the key fob in the car.
  • Ask about anti-theft discounts for tracking devices.

New drivers and the Camry

The Camry is a common choice for new drivers because it is predictable and well-rated for safety. Insurance for a new driver costs more on any car, but the Camry's moderate value helps keep physical damage costs in check. Ask about good student, driver training, and telematics discounts, and keep liability limits high.

See our detailed guide to Toyota Camry insurance for new drivers.

Coverage to consider for a Toyota Camry

  • Liability above the state minimum. Minimum limits are a legal floor and can be exhausted quickly by one serious injury claim. Many drivers choose 100/300/100.
  • Uninsured and underinsured motorist coverage at matching limits. See UM and UIM coverage.
  • Collision and comprehensive while the Camry is financed or leased, and for as long as its value justifies the cost.
  • Gap coverage if you owe more on the loan than the car is worth, which is common in the first years of a long loan.
  • Rental reimbursement so a repair does not leave you without a way to get to work.
  • Glass coverage terms, including whether windshield replacement and camera calibration are covered and what deductible applies.

If you drive for a rideshare or delivery app in your Camry, a personal policy alone usually leaves gaps while the app is on. Our rideshare insurance guide explains the options.

Repairs, parts, and claims on a Camry

Repair costs drive the collision and comprehensive part of your premium, and they decide how smooth a claim feels. A few points apply to almost every modern Camry:

  • Sensor calibration. Cameras and radar used by driver-assistance features often sit behind the windshield, in the grille, or in the bumpers. After a windshield replacement or a minor bumper repair, those systems may need calibration, which adds cost. Ask whether your glass coverage includes it.
  • Parts. Policies differ on whether repairs use new factory parts, aftermarket parts, or recycled parts. Read the parts language in your policy, and ask about an OEM parts endorsement if it matters to you.
  • Choice of shop. In most states you can choose your repair shop. An insurer's preferred shop may offer a repair guarantee, but you are generally not required to use it.
  • Supplements. Hidden damage is often found after a bumper or panel comes off. Shops send a supplement to the insurer, which can extend the repair time and the rental you need.

If you are unsure whether to file a small claim, compare the repair estimate with your deductible and ask your agent how a claim might affect renewal. See comprehensive vs. collision coverage for which coverage pays for which kind of damage.

Financed, leased, or paid off: matching coverage to how you own it

Financed or leased

Lenders and leasing companies require collision and comprehensive, often with a maximum deductible such as $500 or $1,000, and they must be listed on the policy as loss payee or additional insured. Leases often require higher liability limits as well. Check the contract before you shop so every quote meets it.

Gap and new car replacement

A new Camry can be worth less than the loan balance for the first few years. Gap coverage pays the difference after a total loss, minus your deductible. Some insurers also offer new car replacement, which pays to replace a recent-model car with a new one of the same make and model. Compare the insurer's price with the gap product offered at the dealership.

Paid off

Once the loan is paid off, you choose the coverage. Many owners keep collision and comprehensive on a Camry of this age and value, but raise the deductible to lower the premium. Revisit the decision every year or two as the vehicle ages.

Ways to save on Toyota Camry insurance

  1. Compare at least three insurers with identical limits and deductibles; sedans are popular, so insurers compete hard for them.
  2. Ask about good student, driver training, and distant student discounts if a young driver uses the car.
  3. Bundle with home or renters insurance, and combine household vehicles on one policy.
  4. Raise deductibles to an amount you could pay tomorrow.
  5. Consider pay-per-mile or telematics coverage if you drive less than average or drive carefully.
  6. Ask about anti-theft devices, paid-in-full, paperless, and autopay discounts.

Avoid saving money by dropping liability limits to the minimum or leaving off household drivers. Both can leave you exposed after a serious crash, and an undisclosed driver can complicate a claim. See our list of car insurance discounts for more ideas.

What you need for a Camry insurance quote

These details help insurers rate the right Camry and match your coverage.

  1. VIN, model year, and trim. This tells the insurer the exact Camry, including engine, drivetrain, and equipment.
  2. Every household driver. Names, dates of birth, license numbers, and driving history for anyone who lives with you and drives.
  3. Current declarations page. So new quotes match your limits, deductibles, and optional coverages.
  4. How you use the vehicle. Commuting distance, annual mileage, and any business, delivery, or rideshare use.
  5. Loan or lease details. The lienholder's name and any coverage or deductible requirements in the contract.
