ADOT filing rules
- Use the official form. The bond must be on the original dealer bond form prescribed by the ADOT Motor Vehicle Division; handwritten bonds are not accepted.
- One bond per county. You need a separate original bond for each county where you have an established or principal place of business.
- Signatures. The applicant signs the bond; all partners sign for a partnership, and one officer signs for a corporation.
- Surety seal. The form must carry the surety’s embossed stamp, seal, or sticker, with a power of attorney if an attorney-in-fact signs.

How much an Arizona dealer bond costs
| Bond | Published starting price |
|---|---|
| $100,000 dealer bond | From $750 a year (0.75% of the bond) |
| $25,000 wholesale dealer bond | From $188 a year |
Prices published by SuretyBonds.com, which says dealer bond premiums typically run about 0.75% to 2% of the bond amount for qualified applicants, and that multi-year terms may save money. Applicants with weaker credit pay more.
What affects your dealer bond price
- Personal credit of the owners.
- Industry experience and time in business.
- Business finances, especially for newer dealers.
- Claims history on past bonds.
- Number of locations, since each county needs its own bond.
Bond vs. dealer insurance
The dealer bond protects customers and the state if the dealer fails to meet its legal obligations; if the surety pays a claim, the dealer must repay it. Dealers usually also need their own coverage, such as garage liability, dealer’s open lot coverage, and commercial auto insurance. Our surety bond vs. insurance guide explains the difference.
