New York HVAC Contractor Insurance: Local Licenses, Workers’ Comp, and Disability
New York has no statewide HVAC contractor license, so licensing is local. In New York City, the Department of Buildings licenses oil burner equipment installers, and Suffolk County requires a home improvement license for residential HVAC work. Virtually all New York employers must carry workers’ compensation, and technicians who handle refrigerant need EPA Section 608 certification.
This guide covers New York HVAC licensing, required coverage, and typical costs. Blake Insurance Group is an independent agency licensed in New York, and a licensed agent can compare quotes for your HVAC business.
