New York Electrical Contractor Insurance: NYC Master Electrician Rules and Coverage
New York does not issue a statewide electrician license, so licensing is local. In New York City, the Department of Buildings licenses Master and Special Electricians, whose businesses must carry general liability, workers’ compensation, and disability insurance. DOB’s licensing insurance guidelines call for at least $1 million per occurrence of general liability.
This guide covers New York electrical licensing, NYC insurance rules, coverage, and typical costs. Blake Insurance Group is an independent agency licensed in New York, and a licensed agent can compare quotes for your electrical business.
