Washington Notary Bond: $10,000 Requirement and How to Apply

Washington Notary Bond guide illustration

Washington requires notaries to submit a signed $10,000 surety bond with their application to the Department of Licensing. A Washington commission lasts four years, no training or exam is required, and published bond prices start around $40 for the full term.

This guide covers the bond, eligibility, fees, and how to apply. Blake Insurance Group is an independent agency, and a licensed agent can help with your bond.

  2. Apply to the Department of Licensing online or by mail; the fee is $40 ($42 to renew).
  3. Get your seal and journal once your commission is issued.

No training or exam is required, though DOL suggests an approved course (National Notary Association).
