South Carolina Electrical Contractor Insurance: License Groups, $100,000 Liability, and Workers’ Comp

Illustration of an electrical panel, conduit, and outlets for south carolina electrical contractor insurance

South Carolina’s Contractor’s Licensing Board licenses commercial electrical work as a Mechanical Contractor–Electrical classification when a job exceeds $10,000. Each license group carries a job limit and financial requirement, and renewal requires a general liability certificate of at least $100,000. Residential electrical contractors are licensed separately, and employers with four or more workers need workers’ comp.

This guide covers South Carolina electrical licensing, license groups, insurance, workers’ comp, coverage, and typical costs. Blake Insurance Group is an independent agency licensed in South Carolina, and a licensed agent can compare quotes for your electrical business.
