How to submit and track medical bills with Covenant HealthShare
A member or the member’s provider may submit a “needs sharing request” for an eligible medical need. Before sending a request, review the official disclosures and gather the medical information and records Member Care asks for. Ask whether the request needs to come from the member, the provider, or both, and confirm where to send it.

Keep copies of submitted information and ask how to check the request’s progress. Confirm the current process before relying on a payment because sharing is not guaranteed.
Before you submit a bill
- Show your membership card to the provider. Ask whether they will bill the program directly or bill you.
- Ask for an itemized bill. Most sharing programs need itemized bills, not just a balance statement.
- Submit the bill the way your program requires. Use the member portal, app, email, or mail address in your member guide.
- Check your guidelines before big expenses. Many programs require pre-notification for hospital stays or major care.
- Keep copies of everything. Save bills, receipts, request numbers, and notes from every call.
What happens after you submit a bill
After Covenant HealthShare receives a bill, it reviews the request against its member guidelines. Health care sharing programs are not insurance, so there is no guarantee that a bill will be shared or paid. Guidelines can limit or exclude pre-existing conditions, certain treatments, and some types of care.
Because these programs are not insurance, they aren't subject to the same state insurance rules, and ACA protections, such as coverage for pre-existing conditions and essential health benefits, don't apply. If you disagree with a sharing decision, follow the appeal or dispute steps in your member guide and ask for the reason in writing.

How to pay your Covenant HealthShare monthly share
Covenant HealthShare’s disclosures state that members authorize the company to collect the monthly member gift as a recurring monthly payment. The initial monthly member gift and one-time ministry fee are processed during registration.
