Insurance Agents Directory: Find Local Agents by State
Image unavailable. Continue below to search the directory.
This insurance agents directory helps you find local insurance agencies and brokers in Arizona, Texas, California, Alabama, Ohio, New York, North Carolina, Florida, and Virginia. Search by city, product, or agency name, then contact the agency directly for auto, home, life, health, Medicare, or business insurance.
Every listing shows the agency's own contact details: phone, website, address, and the kinds of insurance it focuses on. Some agencies are independent and quote several companies. Others are captive agents who represent one company. Either way, we recommend checking the agent's license with your state before you buy.

Buyer's guide
How to choose a local insurance agent
A good agent explains your options in plain language, answers questions after the sale, and helps when you have a claim. Use these steps to narrow the list.
- Decide what you need covered. Make a short list, such as car, home or renters, life, health, Medicare, or business. Some agencies do everything, while others focus on one or two lines.
- Pick captive or independent. A captive agent sells one company's policies. An independent agent or broker can compare several companies side by side.
- Check the license. Look up the agent or agency on your state's official site before you share personal details or sign anything.
- Ask how they're paid. Most agents earn a commission from the insurance company. Some charge a broker fee. A trustworthy agent tells you up front.
- Compare more than price. Look at deductibles, limits, exclusions, and how claims are handled. The cheapest policy isn't always the best value.
- Ask about service. Find out who you'll call for changes, billing questions, and claims, and how quickly they usually respond.
| Question | Captive agent | Independent agent or broker |
|---|---|---|
| Companies represented | One company, such as State Farm, Farmers, or Allstate | Several companies, depending on appointments |
| Quotes you'll see | Options from that one company | Side-by-side quotes from multiple companies |
| Good fit when | You prefer a single brand and its discounts | You want to compare prices and coverage |
| Switching companies | Usually means finding a new agent | Your agent can often move you to another company |
Questions to ask any agent: Which companies do you work with? Are you licensed in my state for this type of insurance? What discounts might I qualify for? Who helps me if I have a claim?
Types of insurance local agents can help with
Auto insurance. Agents can explain your state's minimum liability limits, and whether you'd benefit from higher limits, collision, comprehensive, or uninsured motorist coverage. They can also help with SR-22 filings, teen drivers, and multi-car discounts.
Homeowners, condo, and renters insurance. A local agent knows the risks in your area, such as wind and hail in Texas, wildfire in parts of California, monsoon storms in Arizona, hurricanes along the Gulf and Atlantic coasts from Alabama and Florida to the Carolinas and Virginia, severe storms in Ohio, and coastal flooding in New York. They can help you choose dwelling limits, deductibles, and extra coverage for valuables. Flood and earthquake coverage are usually separate policies, so ask about them.
Life insurance. Agents can compare term and permanent life insurance, estimate how much coverage your family might need, and explain what the medical underwriting process involves.
Health insurance and Medicare. Some agencies help with individual and family health plans, small-group plans, Medicare Advantage, Medicare Supplement, and Part D. Look for an agent who is appointed with the plans available in your county, and ask which plans they don't offer.
Business insurance. Commercial agents help with general liability, commercial auto, workers' compensation, commercial property, and professional liability. If you run a business, look for an agency that works with companies of your size and industry.
Specialty coverage. Some agencies focus on classic cars, motorcycles, boats, RVs, mobile homes, or events. If you have something unusual to insure, search the directory for that specialty or ask the agency whether they have access to specialty markets.
